While this can be a little chancey, most airports, major and regional, provide a wealth of hotel search choices, including billboards and a reservations desk where you can find out what's available and make an informed choice.

Many travelers prefer to book their accomodations this way, and often report pleasant surprises, since they have an opportunity actually to speak with a human being about individual properties and learn the pros and cons.

Of course, this approach doesn't come without some risk. There might just be some event taking place in town that's a magnet for hoards of visitors, and you might find yourself scrambling just to find a room.

More often than not, however, the simplest way to hotels search is to access the internet. Websites such as hotels.com and priceline.com are just two of the many choices favored by consumers. If you're booking at a well known chain, this is the quickes and easiest was to assure yourself that you will have a room with the amenities you require.

If you travel by automobile in the United States, its a good idea to become a member of the American Automobile Association (AAA) or similar auto service. AAA provides members hotel, motel and restaurant directories for all of the States and Canadian Provinces. Ratings and descriptions of the facilities are simple to understand. If you are a foreign tourist visiting the U.S. and planning to drive, you just might find it useful to join AAA, since membership is less than $50 annually.

It is also important to try to do a hotels search before leaving because there may be a regional event happening or even a city wide event. A hotels search will save a lot of anguish and time when everyone is tired and wants to stop for the night. There isn’t anything worse than having to drive an extra hour or more just to be able to sleep.
